what are swirly tattoos?

Freehand swirly tattoos are abstract tattoos that I can design to fit anywhere on your body.

By “freehanding” (i.e., not using a pre-dawn design) the stencil directly onto your skin with sharpie, these tattoos are able to really flow with the shape of your body and are totally custom to you.

how does the swirly tattoo process work?

First, we'll map out how the tattoo will flow on your body with a light-colored sharpie
Then we'll go back with a darker-colored sharpie and draw the swirls – as loopy, squiggly, flowy, or quirky as you want them
Finally, we'll refine the design with a stencil marker to create the final design that will become your tattoo

Each step of the way, you'll get to approve the design and make changes before we move on. I'm a strong believer that you should love your tattoo and feel totally confident about the design – before we start making it permanent!

what if I want to see the design beforehand?

No problem! Let me know when you fill out your booking form that you'd prefer me to pre-draw your swirly design, instead of freehanding it on your body during your appointment.

Make sure to include some pictures of the area you want the swirly tattoo so I can design a piece that will fit around your body and any existing tattoos.

I'll send you the design a day or two before your appointment so you can make revisions like with any other custom piece. Check out my tattoo info page for more details on the custom design process!

how do you price freehand swirly tattoos?

You can find examples and price estimates of freehand swirly tattoos for different body placements in the swirlies highlight on my Instagram – which I keep regularly updated with new placement ideas and styles!

Please keep in mind that any price estimates you see are just that – estimates. Some styles of swirlies take longer than others to tattoo, which will affect the final cost.

For large pieces, I may require an in-person consult before your actual tattoo appointment. For full limb wraps, please send me an email or DM to chat about pricing. I always do my best to work with your budget, so please let me know if you have one in mind and we can chat about what's possible!

During the booking process, I'll give you a price range so you know what to expect on the day of your tattoo. The final cost will not exceed that range unless explicitly discussed.
